NDPHS DATABASE
Welcome
Introduction
Welcome to the NDPHS Database - a unique single access point to and a repository of information and data on (i) ongoing and implemented projects, (ii) organisations, (iii) persons (project leaders, experts, etc.) and (iv) papers (publications, reports, newsletters, etc). Thematically, this database covers issues of relevance to public health and social well-being. As far as the geographical coverage is concerned, it focuses on the Northern Dimension area.

In the NDPHS Database you can not only search for and find information collected from a variety of sources, but also submit your own information for public display. To render the collected information more approachable and manageable the NDPHS Database features a sophisticated, yet user-friendly search mechanism (available in the Database Toolbox on the right-hand side).
The NDPHS Database is a joint effort of the NDPHS Partner Countries and Organisations and one of the main elements of the Partnership’s Coordinating and Financing Mechanism. Its ultimate goal is to help better coordinate and streamline efforts aimed at the improvement of public health and social well-being in Northern Europe. More specifically, its aim is to bring information closer to people, institutions and organisations at various levels, and to help them, for example, in:
- Monitoring and coordinating activities in the Northern Dimension area;
- Designing funding programmes (financing agencies);
- Searching for other organisations and/or individuals with an aim of involving them in one’s own activities, on the one hand, and introducing own organisation and/or person as a potential partner in activities of other organisations (networking and developing partnerships with other people, institutions and organisations);
- Increasing expertise and knowledge as well as facilitating know-how transfer;
- Developing policy, research and other papers;
- Sharing best practices and lessons learnt;
- Preparing information (e.g. for lectures, training activities, awareness raising campaigns, etc.).
The above include, on the one hand, fact-finding activities and, on the other hand, presenting and disseminating information about one’s own activities.

Overall concept
Information included in the NDPHS Database is collected from several sources to ensure as comprehensive and complete overview as possible. These sources include the following:
- Other relevant external databases (directly linked to the NDPHS Database);
- NDPHS Project Pipeline (until September 2015);
- Information inserted manually through forms provided in the NDPHS Database.
A carefully structured and accurate database mechanism has been developed for the NDPHS Database allowing for storing and presenting the above-named four groups of information in an integrated way. This mechanism allows for information to be both added and edited as well as searched for, sorted and deleted in an effortless and user-friendly way.

External databases connected to the NDPHS Database
NDPHS’ Partner Countries and Organisations have decided that the NDPHS Database should be a one-entry point to and a repository of thematically and geographically relevant information and data contained, among others, in other existing (external) databases including, but not limited to databases owned by some of the Partners themselves. Below are listed the external databases, which have been connected to the NDPHS Database.
Disclaimer
The NDPHS does not take any responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of the information originating from the external databases linked to the NDPHS Database. While every effort is taken by the NDPHS to ensure that only relevant information would be contained in the NDPHS Database, considering that information and data from the external databases are harvested automatically (unless otherwise stated), this can not be taken for granted.
