Objectives The general objective is to improve the well-being of children, adolescents and families with children in the Republic of Karelia.

Results Four main results:
1) Development of a mentor system to support students of social work in practical training and for an interchange of experience between the training of social work at the academic level and civil service practising social work,
2) empowerment of civil service addressing families and children at local level in rural communities, in particular, increased attention to early intervention,
3) new practices of developing professional work related to child welfare and their implementation, and
4) development of a set of quality criteria for child protection.
