Expert Meeting on Alcohol and Health; Stockholm, Sweden
The Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, in cooperation with the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Consumers, is organising an Expert Meeting on Alcohol and Health. The purpose of the meeting is to support a sustainable, long-term and comprehensive strategy to reduce alcohol-related harm in the European Union. The Expert Meeting on Alcohol and Health targets an audience of EU policymakers and executive officers from the public and private sectors, politics and civil society.
The meeting highlights the strategic importance of keeping the alcohol and health issue high on the EU agenda. With contributions from participating professionals, researchers, politicians and members of civil society, the meeting will include presentations and workshops on policy development at EU and Member State levels as well as the latest research. During the plenary sessions, a report will be presented on the situation in the European Union Member States three years after the adoption of the EU strategy to support Member States in reducing alcohol-related harm.

Global Expert Meeting on Alcohol, Health and Social Development;
Stockholm, Sweden
The Swedish Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services, is organizing a Global Expert Meeting on Alcohol, Health and Social Development.
The objective of the meeting is to increase awareness of the impact of the harmful use of alcohol, its social consequences and role in social development, including its impact on the spreading of infectious diseases; such as HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis from a global perspective. The meeting will provide a forum for dialogue and exchange of latest available research, knowledge and evidence. An overarching goal of the meeting is to contribute to keeping harmful use of alcohol high on the international health agenda in line with the work done by the World Health Organization.
8th Nordic-Baltic Congress on Infectious Diseases, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The main topics of the congress will be: new vaccination issues (Pc, HPV, Hib, Rotavirus and more); tuberculosis (improvement in diagnosis, treatment and prevention); tick borne infections (TBE, Borreliosis and more); chronic viral infections (new options for treatment of HIV); chronic viral infections (new options for treatment of hepatitis); nosokomial pathogens (prudent use of antimicrobials and prophylaxis); intestinal infections (focus on viral agents).
